A History from Anon (1400) to Alien Covenant (2014)
A lecture with live music on a variety of professional recorders (no plastic in sight!). The recorder has a long rich history, was a favourite of Henry VIII and composers from Purcell, Bach and Handel through to Paul McCartney and Jonathan Dove. This ‘sweet flute’ features in the recent film ‘Wicked’. Players include Henry VIII, Paul McCartney, Sir Keir Starmer & David the Android (Alien Covenant).
Evelyn Nallen is a prolific international performer, taught recorder at the Royal Academy of Music until 2022 and directs and plays in numerous ensembles.
