St Albans Arts Team organises events and community engagement activities.
The Team’s aims are:
- To support the creative community in the St Albans & Harpenden district to ensure access to artistic experiences for all
- To reach marginalised and isolated communities and tell their stories through the arts
- To make a difference to people’s lives through quality arts experiences
Inclusivity has always been key to the team’s innovative approach, often working with marginalised and excluded communities, allowing them to participate in the cultural narrative of the district and enabling individuals and groups to share their stories with the wider public.
The Team has hosted many outdoor exhibitions featuring art, photography, poetry and haiku; connecting with those living with poor mental health and chronic health conditions, as well as environmental groups and the public.
We have brought live music to the streets and green spaces of the district, often featuring young developing local artists, as well as third agers, artists from a host of different cultural backgrounds and individuals with a range of disabilities. The Team has also facilitated workshops and programmes that enable groups and communities to develop and try new artforms and share their work with the wider public.
