Now Showing at The Eric Morecambe Centre…The Hurst Children’s Theatre Group is about to put on its 18th Pantomime since the group was established nearly 20 years ago. This year we see them in long johns, rat costumes and more for their production of ‘Dick Whittington’, a traditional family pantomime.
The script has been specially written by Mike Hurst, ideal for the cast of hundreds, aged between 3 and 16 years, and appealing to all members of the family.
The plot tells of poor, young DW who arrives in London to make his fortune. Things are looking up when he not only gets work with the Alderman Fitzwarren but also falls in love with his daughter Alice.
This stirs the wrath of another employee, Idle Jack who joins forces with King Rat, alias ‘Ratman’. Together they frame Dick, who is then forced to leave London to make his fortune and clear his name.
Along with a talking cat, being ship-wrecked on a desert island, having a duel with King Rat, to tell of the final outcome would only spoil your fun! Suffice to say, all good Pantomimes have a happy ending, along with a lot of laughs and good old Pantomime gags!
The production is packed with dances, wonderful songs and a good deal of audience participation, so what better way to get over the end of Christmas and the beginning of term?! Come and enjoy an afternoon or evening with us, take a break and soak in the atmosphere. The family will love it!
