Showing at The Eric Morecambe Centre… Me and Ron is a musical comedy. It’s a loving pastiche of various classic and well-known musicals – written by Mike Hurst of the Springfields (and producer of many World-wide hit records).
The story tells of a young girl from London called Rita who discovers she is in fact a Duchess and inherits a fortune, a Manor House and a barmy aristocratic family.
Rita doesn’t really fit in and her boyfriend Ron wants nothing to do with her new way of life. Add in the scheming Lady Cynthia, crazy Uncle Aubrey, Cockneys, Pearly Kings and Queens, an eccentric choreographer, Noel Howard (a West End musical playwright!)… and madness ensues!
This is a show where people are not who they appear to be, not who they’d like to be and not who they’re going to be!
The Hurst Children’s Theatre Group has over 500 local children as members –all of whom are involved in this show -their 41st production. The cast may be made up of 3-18 yr olds but the production is aimed at people of all ages. Loads of fun for the cast and audience alike!
