FAQs

The seats that I wish to book online are available but the system will not allow me to book them?

This is most likely to be because the seat selection is leaving a single seat. In the interest of the Theatre and show producers we are committed to ensuring that each performance is as fully attended as possible. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and ask that you call the box office in this instance so they may be able to help resolve this issue.

What should I do if I have not received an email confirmation for my booking?

Please check your spam/junk folder for your email confirmation. We do ask that you allow 12 hours for this to come through as delays can happen. After this time, you can call the box office team on 01438 363200 who will be able to resolve this for you.

What do I do if my tickets haven’t arrived?

If you have not received your tickets after seven working days, please contact the box office and have your booking details ready. Tickets that have already been sent out in the post will not be re-sent. They will, however, be re-printed and you will be able to collect them from the box office before or on the day of the performance.

Do you accept Theatre Tokens?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept Theatre Tokens. Everyone Theatres vouchers are available to purchase for any amount and are redeemable on all performances and at any of our venues.

Are Concessions available on all shows?

All concessions are listed in our What’s On guide and online. Concessions vary depending on performance. The management reserves the right to remove concessions at any time.

Does my Child need a ticket?

Babes in Arms tickets are available for selected performances. Please find relevant information in individual show descriptions or call the box office. When under 16s prices are not available, children will be charged at the standard rate. All under 16s must be accompanied by an adult and sat together.

Can I book a wheelchair space online?

Wheelchair spaces are unavailable to purchase online. Bookings need to be made directly with the box office either in-person or by telephone to allow for the correct allocation of seating.

Is there disabled parking nearby?

We have six car-parking spaces for Blue Badge holders close to the main public entrance, all with level access and are located on the service road at the front of the building.

These are available on a first-come, first-served basis and have a maximum parking time of three hours. We regret that these cannot be booked in advance, so advise that you arrive in good time should you wish to use one, but we cannot guarantee availability which will depend on the level of demand at any given time. Blue badges must be displayed clearly in the vehicle. Those using this area without a badge risk being fined.

Can I drop people off and not park?

Access for dropping people off to the theatre is located at the end of Swingate or Danesgate next to the Stevenage Borough Council car parks to the front of the building. It is then just a short walk to the Sports Centre Reception entrance or via the steps which brings you to the Box Office entrance of the Gordon Craig Theatre.

For disabled patrons you can enter the service road at the front of the building for dropping off. Here you can enter at ground level at the Sports Centre Reception with easy access to the Concert Hall and passenger lift access to the Gordon Craig Theatre.

Can I bring food and drink with me?

Only food and drink purchased on the premises are permitted in the auditorium and Concert Hall. The café and theatre bar sell a wide selection of drinks and snacks. Drinks are only permitted in the auditorium in a plastic glass or bottle and hot drinks must have a lid. We do ask in the interest of all patrons that ‘noisy food’, for example crisps and popcorn are not taken into the auditorium. This will help to ensure that noise disturbance is kept to a minimum.

What happens if I am late?

If you are late arriving to a performance a member of our Front of House Team will escort you to your seat, this is for safety reasons as the house lights would have been dimmed and stairs may need to be negotiated. In some instances, you may be asked to wait until a suitable moment to enter the auditorium which will have been requested by the performer. We advise arriving 20 minutes before curtain-up to minimise lateness and reduce disturbing other patrons and performers.

Can I take my pushchair into the Theatre?

We cannot permit pushchairs/car seats in the auditorium as they could block evacuation routes and fire exits. You can leave your pushchair in the Theatre Foyer but please take all valuables with you into the Theatre, as we cannot accept responsibility for them if left unattended.
